  1942 Drafted into the Army.
  1942 Went to school in Omaha, Nebraska then to Fort Hood, Texas then to California then overseas to the South Pacific. First Island Bill landed at was New Guinea then to the East Indies at the island of Morati then to the Philippines (Luzon, Negros, Panay).
  1943 While Bill was stationed at Morati the Japanese hit an ammunition dump which was right next to his barracks.Bill says it got exciting after that.
  1943 Bill was an armorer and worked on small arms. Bill works on every weapon the U.S. had and believes the best one was the M1 Garand.
  8/1945 Bill was all packed up and ready for the invasion of Japan but the armistice was finally reached after the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Bill to the northern island Kaito of Japan when the war was over.
