Went to school in Omaha, Nebraska then to Fort Hood, Texas then to California then overseas to the South Pacific. First Island Bill landed at was New Guinea then to the East Indies at the island of Morati then to the Philippines (Luzon, Negros, Panay).

While Bill was stationed at Morati the Japanese hit an ammunition dump which was right next to his barracks.Bill says it got exciting after that.

Bill was an armorer and worked on small arms. Bill works on every weapon the U.S. had and believes the best one was the M1 Garand.

Bill was all packed up and ready for the invasion of Japan but the armistice was finally reached after the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Bill to the northern island Kaito of Japan when the war was over.
