My War Stories

6/1944 Joe was drafted after he was married in June one month after their first baby was born.
12/26/1944 Arrived in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge. Joe was a truck driver for an anti-aircraft machine gun. The gun contained four 50 caliber machine guns on a turret. Joe said the 90MM would fire first then the 40MM would fire then he would fire his 50 calibers. Joe shot down planes at Romagon but said once he got across the Rhine River the war was pretty much over. Joe remembers one time when he did not sleep for 3 days so he went to sleep next to his vehicle and woke up and everything was full of shrapnel but not a scratch on him.
