Thomas Hembree served on the USS Curtiss. Only 17 years old, he had been stationed in Pearl Harbor for only a few days before the Japanese attack. He was buried in a grave marked "Unknown" until 2002 when his remains were finally identified. He was the first Unknown from the Pearl Harbor attack whose remains were identified.
