1943 Basic training in California

1/1943 William was drafted.

10/1943 Went to Scotland and England.

1944 Basic duties were guarding POW’s, loading trucks and doing whatever was needed.

6/6/1944 Was in the hospital during D-day when paratroopers came in.

6/16/1944 Landed on Omaha beach D plus 10 to deliver supplies.

12/1944 During the Battle of the Bulge the “Buzz” bombs would come in groups during the night and day hitting everywhere disrupting everything. William could not shake off the thought of the buzz bombs coming in and he had numerous very close calls.

1945 One day William was on the train a plane attacked his train and shot him off the train. William had to lie up and walk to the next town.

11/1945 Came back to the States.
