My War Stories
12/7/1942 Enlisted in Cincinnati, Ohio on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor. So many people were eager to enlist that he could not get in until the next day. He was sent to Great Lakes, Illinois. Then Carl was sent to Navy Pier in Chicago for aviation machinist mate school for six months. Then went on to Memphis, Tennessee for electronics school for a couple months. Then Carl went to Pensacola, Florida to take aerial gunnery. Carl was beginning to wander where the war was when he was sent to San Diego, California. Finally formed a crew for his B-24 liberator and went to fly missions out of Honolulu, Hawaii. Carl then got closer to the war in the pacific by going to New Guinea. Owi, Beac flew missions. Morati was Carl next island hopping stop as they drove the Japanese back to the homeland.
11/4/1945 Carl was relieved of duty and came back to the states.
1949 Graduated from Ohio State University from which he enrolled as soon as he got back from the war.
