Awards and Citations
- Army Good Conduct Medal (Saved a man that was running out of a burning building that had just been bombed. The man's clothes were on fire so my dad threw him to the ground and rolled him in the dirt until the fire was out. He was supposed to receive a medal, however, he wouldn't go get it because he said anyone would have done the same thing and he didn't think he deserved a medal.)
- Bronze Star Medal
- Meritorious Service Medal (One of the carpenters that helped rebuild the Port of Leghorn in Italy. The services of the 338th Engineers during this period were in the highest traditions of military service.)
