My War Stories
1954 Boot camp was a very interesting time for Harold. His most memorable experience from that time was when he and his crew were pulled from their beds, wearing only shorts and t-shirts in the snow and were forced to do drills for hours
1955 Harold attempted to enlist in the coast guard with his good friend john. When John was turned down because his eye sight was not good enough, they both decided to enlist in the Navy.
1957 A particularly humorous event that occured during Harold's service was when he and his crew were preparing for a 120 hour inspection, this particular aircraft was partially operated by hydrolic oil that was injected into the holes in the propellers. As he finished doing this, the power was turned on and the quarts of oil flew towards him and hit him in the head and pushed him back across the room
